Gildeas completes acquisition of Glasgow firm
The existing Gildeas conveyancing practice will merge with Fulton’s, which will continue trading as a separate entity from its two customer-facing units in Mount Florida and Clarkston.
The deal will see Gildeas expand its total workforce by 13 to 77 and represents a landmark first acquisition for the firm as it celebrates its 30th birthday in 2019.
Gildeas will continue to focus on personal injury work in Scotland and seek further acquisition opportunities to drive growth and diversify its business.
A small number of Gildeas staff, including senior solicitors, will transfer to Fulton’s as a result of the acquisition.
Fulton’s has a strong client base with a high volume of repeat customers and word-of-mouth referrals cultivated over several decades operating in Glasgow.
The Fulton’s legal practice offers a range of services including property conveyancing, wills, trusts and estates, while the estate agency is focused on the sale and purchase of residential and commercial property.
Gildeas Director Colin Ferguson said: “We are delighted to have completed the acquisition of Fulton’s and would like to welcome their team on board.
“I am confident that our new business structure will enable Gildeas to focus on our core personal injury work and ensure we are well-positioned to take advantage of opportunities in this area as they arise.
“Our existing conveyancing practice has merged with a thriving business which has an experienced team at the helm and a loyal customer base.”
Gildeas was established in 1989 when James Gildea set up his own legal practice. Today Gildeas works with clients all over Scotland from its offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh city centres. To accommodate consistent growth the firm has moved to new premises on a number of occasions.
Fulton’s Solicitors and Estate Agents began as Hamilton, Burns and Moore in the 1970s. The firm merged with Cochran, Sayers and Cook in 1995. In 2013 the merged entity HBM Sayers decided to focus instead on insurance work. As a result, the private client department of HBM Sayers became Fulton’s Solicitors and Estate Agents.
