Michelle talks about her work experience with Gildeas

I completed the accelerated LLB at the University of Edinburgh before going on to read for the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Strathclyde. For the past three months, I undertook work experience at Gildeas Solicitors.
My experience with Gildeas
Everyone at the firm was welcoming and eager to answer any questions that I had. Alastair Cameron was my supervisor and I found him to be approachable and very knowledgeable. Alastair eased me into simple tasks and was always willing to help when I got stuck. He provided constructive feedback before letting me redo tasks until they were of satisfactory standard. I got to try my hand at drafting forms for cases and sat in on client meetings.
The most rewarding moment was when I was given the task of drafting some forms for a case. After they were checked, I was told that they would be sent off to court. I was gobsmacked and delighted to discover that the work I had produced would be used by the firm.
It was an honour to experience the inner workings of the firm and gain first-hand experience of what it would be like to work as a personal injury solicitor. The atmosphere in the office was always warm, positive, and productive. Every member of the firm, that I had the privilege to work with, showcased genuine interest in the well-being of their clients.
