Gildeas is a fast paced, independent and modern law firm with offices in central Glasgow and Edinburgh. We specialise in pursuer personal injury.
We are currently recruiting for the following positions:
- Solicitor, 0-5 Years PQE+
- Paralegal/Claims Handler
Located at: 30 Melville St, Edinburgh, EH3 7HA
Salary: Dependent on experience.
Working pattern: Full time.
Hours are typically Monday - Friday, 9.00am - 5.00pm but may be subject to alternate working patterns on occasion.
About the role:

As a member of our Edinburgh team, expect that:
- The Solicitor role will work with an established caseload consisting of a variety of road traffic accident, employer's liability, public liability, and occupier's liability cases.
- The Paralegal/Case Handler role will work with an established case load consisting primarily of road traffic cases, with scope for employer's liability, public liability, and occupier's liability work. For this role, you may have experience of litigation in the Sheriff Court or be interested in doing so in the future.
- The Solicitor role will principally be litigating in the Sheriff Courts, including the All Scotland Personal Injury Court in Edinburgh.
Therefore, you will have good experience of litigating in the Sheriff Court, and may also have dealt in Court of Session cases.
- You will work closely with experienced colleagues and take on significant client reponsibilities.
- You will advise clients via phone and email, complying with GDPR and all relevant data protection guidance.
- You will have the opportunity to develop client relationship skills, encouraging a rapport with clients and other stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain a Disclosure Scotland certificate.
About you:
The successful candidate should:
- Be proactive and have a can-do attitude.
- Conscientious with excellent negotiation skills, with an ability to work to deadlines.
- Be able to work as an individual and as part of our close-knit team.
- Communication with injured clients is integral to the role. The ideal candidate will value the client experience and be an effective communicator, with excellence in client care a priority.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office suite but particularly Excel, Word, Teams, and SharePoint. Experience with 3CX and office equipment would be advantageous.
- The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise tasks effectively.

We began as a small firm when James Gildea set up his own practice in Baillieston, Glasgow in 1989. In 2001, we had grown and expanded to open offices in Edinburgh, and by 2019, we acquired our sister firm, Fulton’s Solicitors.
